What is Build My Rank?

Build My Rank is a service that maintains a high number PR blogs that they allow you to post on with unique content. Your post only gets distributed to one blog each time you submit an article, but since the quality of the network is higher the links tend to carry a little more weight.

You can either pay BMR to create the articles for you, you can write them yourself, or (and this is the coolest part) you can create a writer account so you can hire and outsourcer to write the articles for you.  You can find people on odesk or freelancer that will do these mini-articles for .50 – .60 cents a post.

On to the Case Study

OK, so I am going to pick 2 keywords that I have been trying to rank for one of my “Money Sites” for the last couple weeks and they are now stuck at their current positions.

Keyword 1 – 4 word keyword – 8,100 exact match searches per month – Current Rank – #10

Keyword 2 – 5 word keyword – Same keyword as above but with the word “free” in front – 2,400 exact match searches per month – Current Rank – #11

The Plan -
I plan on submitting 5 posts each to these 2 keywords over the next week.  I will update the blog post every 2-3 days with new ranking reports.  I will not be doing any other linking for these keywords, but I do intend to continue backlinking efforts for other keywords on the same site.

3/24/2011 Update:

I have all of my posts loaded in in the system and they should start to be distributed today.  As of today, the ranking for the 2 keywords looks like this.

Main keyword: #8
Second Keyword: #11

I expect that the rankings will rise quite nicely over the next week once the posts start being distributed and build my rank does its backlinking magic.

3/28/2011 Update –

So you can see that keyword #1 got a nice bounce when the posts were first seen by google, but now they have settled back down.  I will give it another 4-5 days to see movement and if I don’t I will send another 3-4 posts per keyword to them.

Update 4/1/2011

Keyword 1 – #2  (Increased +8)

Keyword 2 – #10 (Increased +1)

As you can see from the ranking reports the articles have been posted and indexed and are starting to increase rankings. An 8 spot jump in the SERPs just from using Build My Rank is pretty impressive in the short time this case study has been going.   Ill update this again in a couple days.  Hopefully I will have a #1 ranking.

The  site is in the finance niche and I will be sending links to a 6 word long tail keyword currently ranking 115.

I will start by sending 10 posts to the site and won’t send more than 2 posts per day. I’ll update this post in a few days when I see some ranking change.

UPDATE: 2/14/2011

I have submitted the domain for approval and have my first 2 posts cued up for posting.  I think they should be approved and posted today and then I will slowly start tracking the SERP improvements.

You can see I have been tracking the rankings for about 3 months and the google rankings have not improved much.  Bing is rising for some reason, but I don’t really care about bing.  Ill up date in a few days.

Update:  3/21/2011 -

This case study never got off the ground because BMR never approved the domain.  I am going to start a different build my rank case study instead of adding to this one.

Using Instant Article Wizard you really can write a very well written article in as little as 2-3 minutes.  And if the Best Spinner is any reflection on how John supports his products, than I am sure this will be constantly upgraded.  I am sure to buy this as soon as the beta is over.

Backlink Energizer Official Page

I am using 507 profile links that I received from Drip Feed Blasts.  There were more than 1300 to start with, but I narrowed the list down to only links that contained proper anchor text and also the PR was more than N/A.

I ran all of these links though scrapebox index checker and none were indexed as of today 11/19/2010.  I will be updating this thread daily for about 2 weeks showing how many links have been indexed.

I ran the index checker today and here were the results.  Definitely showing progress using Backlink Energizer.

10/24 Update:  Well we are definatly seeing progress here and I am very happy with the result.  I was hoping to see up to 50% indexing rates, but I have a feeling all the links haven’t went though my indexing sites yet, so I am still hopeful that Backlink Energizer will get at least half of these indexed.

Update 11/26

The backlinking using the backlink energizer seems to be going real well.  I can definatly say that my indexing has improved greatly by using the system.  My avarage amount indexed before using BE was around 1%.   Below is the latest screenshot:

Here is the next up date using the Backlink Energizer plugin.  There was quite a bit of momement overnight and now about 20% are indexed.

Update 11/29:

WOW!  That is all I can say.  My links must be really going though the system and getting picked up by google because this is beyond even what I could have hoped for.  At this rate I might be able to achieve 50% indexing by next week using BLE (Backlink Energizer).  I will say though that you have to spend the time to build backlinks to your clusters and get google visiting them or you will not enjoy the same success.  When I first bought BLE I put my links in and was initially disappointed with the number of links it indexed.  If you take your time and season your clusters properly it this is a super powerful tool.

11/30 Update:

Today brought still more links indexed by Backlink energizer and I have to say that this tool was worth quite a bit more than I paid for it.  Now that I have seen the power of the program I think I will be setting up another 5 clusters and creating a great indexing network  using this plugin.

12/2 Update:

This update is really just more of the same.  Shows that backlink energizer is doing its stuff and getting quite a lot of the links found.  I think I will stop posting so many updates now as I think the case study has been successful in showing it is possible to get 50% + indexing rates.   I will post one more update in a week as a conclusion to the case study.

12/6 Update:

This will probably be the last update to this case study and the last screen shot that I post.  You can see that backlink energizer is still continuing to index the links, however the rate at which they are being indexed is starting to slow down.  I expect in the next week or so I will surpass 50% indexing which is GREAT for profile links.  I seriously can’t believe that Steve is still offering a backlink energizer discount on this product.  I is just too good!

I have been hearing a lot of good things about the best spinner from John Ledger so I tried it out.  So far it is a great tool and super super fast.  It make rewriting an article so easy that I almost enjoy it.

These 2 programs coupled together make a great combination.

Case Study:

I am going to attempt to rank a 4 word keyword that has a moderate amount of competition.  This site is brand new so it is not ranking for at all.   I don’t want to expose the niche but the keyword is “Learn how to xxxxx”

I will be updating this post with results over the next couple of months with the rankings.  I intend to submit 1 article every day with the target keyword and one other related keyword.  I will also be submitting to Ezine Articles.

2/23/2010 Update:

A quick update.  So far I am liking the interface of the program and rewriting articles seems to be fairly easy.  I have submitted 6 articles so far and my first one has been distributed 8 times.  Overall, I have 15 links in the system.  I have yet to see any trackbacks for the links that are posted, but it is still early.  No rankings yet, but again it is still early.

3/11/2010 Update:  I have started to see quite a few pingbacks from other blogs so my links must be counting.  I haven’t seen a big move in the SE rankings, but i didn’t really expect to until month 2.  I have realized that I don’t like re-writing articles to be used in the program.  I am trying out John Ledgers The Best Spinner and doing a case study on it.

3/28/2010 Update – Ranking have started rising and this is all though use of AMA and EZA.  I am hoping that within the next week I can get on page one for my targeted keyword in Yahoo.  I am betting it will take a bit longer for yahoo.  Even though I will continue to update this thread, I am ready to say that AMA works.  You simply have to put in the work of creating and spinning content on a consistent basis.  Here is a picture of my ranking so far:

#1 – Interface
The interface of the site is very clean and once a member you can qualify for recurring payments as an affiliate.  I immediately went to the article download area where there are 15 niches with 15 articles each in each niche.  You can download all the articles from each niche at once, but not all the articles for the month.  This a minor detail and just takes a little longer to go though and download them individually. 

#2 – Quality
The quality of this first round of PLR articles is unmatched.  I have been a member of the Top PLR service and these articles are far superior to even their service.  My only complain is that i would of liked to see more articles per pack, and maybe a few less topics per month.  12 articles per topic isn’t quite enough to make a mini-site, but with the ability to spin articles I should be enough to get a good start.

#3 – Spinning
This is admittedly the most exciting part about this membership.  The problem with most PLR content is that it is the SAME as everyone else in the member has.  Every membership tells you that to be effective you need to re-write the article to have success.   This is where most members have a problem.  

I like to automate as much of my IM business as possible and sitting down to re-write an article is just plain Boring to me!  So i went the path of hiring someone to rewrite the content for me.  My other PLR Membership was $67 a month (now over $150 a month) plus paying someone $3 per article to re-write them, this was becoming some expensive VRE.  

Ive tried article spinners too, but the problem with this software is that the software is only the first part of the equation, the other 90% is still copy writing, which I’ve already stated isn’t my favorite thing to do.  The Spin-ready articles are absolutely perfect.  I’ll Post and example so you can see the quality, but they read better than anything I’ve ever seen and are usually at least 50% Unique!  

This is HUGE for article marketing as now these articles are pretty much ready to go without any additional work.  The only thing that disappointed me a little bit is that Simply PLR uses another one of Matt’s websites to do the spinning.  When you go over there you are presented with a OTO to UPGRADE to GOLD.  I was under the impression that Simply PLR had everything you needed without additional cost.   After playing around a bit and NOT upgrading the FREE versions seems to work just fine…  at least for now.

You can tell that the articles are similar from the above comparison, but they are 50% unique and READABLE!
